Cypress Preserve

Many houses within Smith Farm border the preserve area. There are many restrictions that apply to how this area is maintained. The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is in charge of making sure the preserve is maintained properly, however the residents of Smith Farm will be fined if the SFWMD determines that we are causing damage to the preserve area. By following these simple rules we should be able to live in peace with nature and avoid heavy fines by the governing bodies.

The homeowners that border the preserve area are responsible to make sure that there is no debris behind their houses. Regardless of who placed the material behind an individuals house the homeowner is responsible, and can be fined.

The Rules - Plain and Simple
  1. No dumping of trash in the preserve.
  2. No dumping of yard waste in the preserve.
       If it does not grow in the preserve it should not be in the preserve.
  3. No digging in the preserve.
  4. No playing in the preserve.
  5. No parking in the preserve.
  6. No planting in the preserve.
  7. No seeding of grass or flowers in the preserve.
  8. No lawn equipment (sheds, benches, etc.) should be placed in or on the preserve border.
  9. No swings, trampolines, etc. should be placed in or on the preserve border.

If you spot people breaking these rules or have questions please contact the park office immediately. The Master Association is responsible for making sure the preserve areas are maintained. Do not call your local village board. Homeowners that violate these rules place all residents in a situation of fines and costly cleanup.
